Zaroba is a trust-first peer-to-peer marketplace built for Nigeria's secondhand goods market. The core problem: buyers and sellers don't trust each other, and existing platforms don't solve for dispute resolution. Zaroba does, with a 7-state order lifecycle that holds funds in escrow until both parties confirm.
The wallet system distinguishes between pending and available balances, so sellers see exactly what they can withdraw at any moment. Paystack handles the money movement; Supabase Realtime drives the in-app messaging without a separate WebSocket server. OTP authentication keeps the onboarding tight without requiring email.
Money movement is guarded in the database: order and wallet rows are locked before every payout or refund, each Paystack webhook signature is verified, and an order can be refunded only once. Every release is gated on 842+ concurrent system and end-to-end tests.
